PhD in Hearing and Speech Sciences
My area of research explores various aspects of language processing in individuals of different ages. I am interested in how young children as well as adults deal with "difficult" listening situations such as understanding dialect variations, processing speech signals from different talkers, and listening to speech in the presence of background noise. In particular, I am interested in how these various aspects might influence language comprehension and word learning. In addition, my research explores how the linguistic environment of the individual and the input that they receive (e.g., being expose to one language compared to multiple ones) might influence performance on language-related tasks.
