The main area of research is adults? implicit and explicit learning, in particular different possibilities for implicit and explicit learning and their relation to ultimate second language attainment in child and adult learners. Moreover, in the long-run, the research will focus on the different types of knowledge acquired depending on the type of learning, and whether and how explicitly acquired knowledge can become proceduralized and automatized so that it leads to a fluent and accurate command of the L2. In addition to this, I am also interested in the synergy between implicit and explicit learning/ processing, an issue that is well researched in cognitive psychology, but not a lot in SLA.
