My primary research interests are in the area of speech perception (at both segmental and suprasegmental levels), speech comprehension, spoken word recognition/lexical access, phonology, perceptual training, and language attrition, with a focus on comparison of monolingual and bilingual populations. In my dissertation research, I use both behavioral and electrophysiological methods to examine how native and nonnative speakers utilize low-level phonetic-acoustic information and higher-order contextual information to comprehend speech. My secondary interest lies in L2 morphological processing. I am investigating the effect of L1 transfer in morphological knowledge, and the problem of storage of morphologically complex words in the mental lexicon.
