Linguistics

Maryland language scientists are used to the idea of interdisciplinary collaboration - but rarely sit down to discuss language science with psychoanalysts and children’s book authors. At the end of April, Colin Phillips did just that as part of a prestigious roundtable on 'The Mind of a Child' at the Helix Center for Interdisciplinary Investigation in New York.

Graduate student Lara Ehrenhofer (LING) will present a project that she’ll be running this summer using ERPs to probe incremental interpretation and prediction across different word orders.

Title: Mind wandering as spontaneous thought: A dynamic framework

Title: Learning to see late in childhood

Title: Functional specificity in the human brain

Title: Exemplar Model Accounts of Relations and Dissociations Between Categorization and Recognition
