The Complicated Relationship Between Trauma and Language

Abstract: During this conversation, I will discuss the intricacies of the relationship between psychological trauma and language. From my dissertation to some of my more recent work, we will examine linguistic markers of emotional and cognitive processing, the dynamic effects of trauma on language, and explore what happens when language itself becomes traumatic. I’ll wrap up my talk with a few 'words for thought' regarding various disciplinary approaches to this complex relationship.
